HIGH ARCTIC DIVE & PHOTOGRAPHY EXPEDITION 2008
After embarking the ship in Longyearbyen, the capital of Spitsbergen (Svalbard) we will sail to the remote regions of the High Arctic, to experience the wildlife and extreme environment of the Polar Regions. We will take our time to explore the best dive sites which depends on drift-ice, visibility and presence of wildlife. When we sail further north and east we will encounter more ice floes with resting seals and have more chances to see Walruses and the King of the Arctic. The presence of Polar bears and Walruses in Spitsbergen keep our guides alert with rifles at all times and we maintain the highest level of safety in combination with quality diving and great landings for the best photographic opportunities.

OUR SHIPS
Modern, ice-strengthened research vessels, ideally suited to expedition cruising in polar areas. Accommodation and on-board-life is cosy and comfortable and most cabins have private facilities. The public areas include a dining room which also act as lecture room, a bar with reference books, a doctors cabin and a sauna. The best viewing places on board for spotting wildlife are the bridge and the open-deck areas. Costa Rica Dive supplies a large dive-container and dive room to store your dive equipment, and warm your drysuit and BC. We have four large Zodiacs dedicated to the dive operation and one dedicated for the non-divers to make landings ashore and zodiac cruising.
The M/S Stockholm is a classic vessel built in 1953 at Finnboda shipyard in Stockholm for the Swedish National Maritime Administration. In 1999 she was totally refitted and started her career as a comfortable and ice-strengthened passenger ship. The Stockholm carries a maximum of 12 passengers in outside twin cabins, all with private facilities. She is a marvellous piece of maritime history with beautiful brass details and oregon pine decks and is loved by many. With a party of 12 on board it is like travelling on a private yacht and it offers an entirely different experience and perspective to that of a larger and more conventional vessel. The ship is ideal for private dive groups that wish to explore the Spitsbergen archipelago underwater.
Only available per group of 12 persons.
NOTES:
Expedition style travelling – we do not take a trip, a trip takes us..
Costa Rica Dive takes you to remote polar regions where very few travellers have been. We need to adjust our routes in progress to take best advantage of weather and ice conditions—which can vary unpredictably from day to day. We are always ready to alter plans accordingly to take advantage of wildlife sightings and other one-of-a-kind opportunities.
Rates include:

• All dives or shore landings and excursions by Zodiac according to the daily onboard program;
